BACKPACK SERIES: EXPECTATIONS

1. GIVE UP:

The reason? I can't think of any, nagising na lang ako one day na di ko na sya trip dalahin. So I bought a cheap padlock and presto! Nasa loob lang sya ng cabinet sa dorm ko with the cob web. I told myself, I can move on easily, without the extra heavy baggage hanging on my shoulder.

2. REPLACEMENT:
This is a normal thing to do, finding a replacement, especially in this case. A smaller version of messenger bag is perfect as a replacement (just as I thought). I put a lot of expectation on this. I'm too postive that i can eventually have a convenient relationship with my new found messenger bag.

3. FAILED:
I was wrong, size really does matter! My messenger bag failed in comparison with my backpack. A high hopes gone low, my expectation turns into disappointment. Nabasa ko sa isang blog:

"THE GREATEST HURT IS THE DISSAPOINTMENT OF UNFULFILLED EXPECTATION"

Agree! Pero ano ang dapat gawin? Wag na lang mag expect? Expect the unexpected? We can't tell people not to expect something or anything throughout their lives. may mga magsasabi sayo na "wag ka na kasing mag expect! Di na dadating yon!" But then what? Still, people can't do away with expectations.

4. MEANING:
For me, there's a big difference between expectation and hope. If we have to digest the meaning of the two words, we can see the difference.
a. Expectation is the act or state of looking forward or anticipating.
 b. Hope is the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life.

See the difference? My vote goes for HOPE! and to back up my arguments, I will put Faith in the scenario. Here it is:

Hebrews 11:1-6 (New International Version, ©2010)
Faith in Action
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
4 By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.
5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”[a] For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Verse 1 of the above passage tells us that FAITH is confidence in what we HOPE for andASSURANCE about what we do not see. If we exercise this, surely we can't go amiss. Faith is not just a word. Exercise it and all our hopes will come into reality. Not just mere expectation, but believing and hoping that everything will be perfectly fine, In God's perfect time. Convert your expectation into hoping with faith in your heart and you will not be disappointed!

5. ACTION
Here are some act that is tough to follow and mostly we can't help but to expect.
Act # 1: Give without expecting anything in return.
Mali yon. When you give, give wholeheartedly. No strings attached. As simple as that. No need to elaborate.

Act # 2: Love without limitations. When you ask for a definition of love, you will get hundreds or even thousands of definition depending on who's talking, and what situation they are in. But check this out:

"LOVE is patient; unselfish and entails sacrifice..."
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Some people are afraid so they set limitations, 'till they find themselves having lost it. Part of loving is to experience pain, so they say. Tama naman yon. But that doesn't stop us from loving. Love entails sacrifice nga eh. Kaya pag nagmahal ka, don't set any standards or limitations. I don't believe in putting percentage on how much love you can give. Basta pag nagmahal, yon na yon! you can't count it and you can't audit it. Hindi rin, kasi if you are capable of loving someone, mamahalin mo rin sarili mo. Sabi ko nga, di nabibilang ang love. Ano yon parang ganito? 1 love for you, 2 love for me? Hindi di ba? So pano mo masasabi na mauubusan ka ng love or kailangan mo magtira pag nagmahal ka? There's no such thing as kulang na pagmamahal or sobrang pagmamahal! Trust me I know (hahaha)! Enjoy the relationship while it's still there. And for those who's relationships passed the test of time, CONGRATULATIONS!

I have FAITH that I shared my points and HOPE that somehow, you find lessons in all that I've said. I'm not EXPECTING all of you who read this will agree with me. if you don't agree, talk to my backpack!

God Bless Everyone!
